Cram the Cruiser

  • Northern District AAPD 939 Hammonds Lane Brooklyn, MD, 21225 United States (map)

Our Northern District Police Officers (939 Hammonds Lane, Brooklyn Park MD) are asking for assistance in getting a few things to make being inside go a little easier on our elderly population.

Here is the exact message:

For those of you that don't know me, I am Elizabeth Smith.  I am the Platoon 1 Commander out of the Northern District.  CPT Frashure has given me the go-ahead to hold an event benefiting our adults and senior citizens living in nursing homes or assisted living facilities in the Northern District area.  It's called Cram the Cruiser.  Starting Monday, January 11th, and lasting for approximately two weeks, Northern District will be accepting donations of new items for these facilities.  January 25th will be the last day to accept donated items.  On that day, we will have a police cruiser set up in our front parking lot where you can 'Cram the Cruiser' with these much-needed items from 11 AM - 1 PM.  You can drop them off at the front desk of Northern District or come on out on the 25th.

I am in the process of contacting nursing homes and assisted living facilities in our area, focusing on the larger ones that are in lockdown.  A lot of these places make their residents stay in their room and not have contact with anyone due to COVID.  Which means they are bored with nothing to do.  I have a few places that would love to participate at this time.  Some of the items that they have mentioned needing are below.  The only caveat is that the items be new.

word puzzles

word searches/word finds

sudoku

small games

playing cards

puzzles

coloring books

coloring pencils

different individual activity books for one person

magazines

cologne or perfume (dollar store)

deodorant

lotions

Please let me know if you have any questions.  I can be reached at 410-222-8995.  It would be so helpful if you all could spread the word to the community to see if we can get some new items donated.  I can also coordinate having an officer pick items up if people cannot get to Northern to do a drop-off.

Thanks in advance, and hopefully, we can get a ton of items for the community!!!
